Activities to do with children on the Amalfi Coast
Visiting the Amalfi coast with children is not only possible, but also enjoyable.
We know that traveling with children is not always easy. But the Amalfi Coast is an area characterized by small towns, lots of nature, easy hikes and family-friendly beaches. In addition, there is no shortage of activities and places designed specifically for kids.
Here is a short list of activities to do with children on the Amalfi coast.
THE BEST ACTIVITIES TO DO WITH CHILDREN ON THE AMALFI COAST
PLAYING ON THE BEACH
The best activity to do with children on the Amalfi coast is definitely going to the beach.
Children enjoy spending time on the beach, swimming or playing in the sand. However, not all beaches are suitable for them: the rocks, the wind, the deep seabed can be dangerous.
The best beach for children on the Amalfi coast is Atrani beach. Here the sand is thin, the sea is calm and the seabed drops slowly. Children can play safely on the shore, while parents relax.
Furthermore, the beach is well equipped and is very close to the town. This position not only offers an unforgettable view but is also convenient for quickly returning home.
BOAT TRIPS
Children get tired quickly. Forcing them to take long walks could be hell both for them and you. But naturally you want to explore the towns and wonders on the Amalfi Coast! So how do you go about it?
Well, a boat trip or a small cruise is the right compromise. For the little ones it would be a new experience, for adults it is the opportunity to see the Coast from a different and fascinating perspective.
You can choose a private boat or get on one of the many that regularly connect the main towns.
VALLE DELLE FERRIERE
If your children like trekking, Valle delle Ferriere is an easy and very scenic hiking path.
It starts from the town of Amalfi and the hike lasts about two hours. Along the way you cross streams, waterfalls and can take a look at the mysterious ruins of the ancient paper mills and ironworks.
GROTTA DELLO SMERALDO, THE EMERALD GROTTO
Among the activities to do with children on the Amalfi coast, a visit to the Emerald Grotto could be a bit stressful, but it’s worth a try. After all, it doesn’t last long but it may give them some of their most unforgettable memories.
The cave is an extraordinary place, indeed. We are sure that the stalactites, the intense color of the water and the light create an atmosphere worthy of a book by Jules Verne that will fascinate the kids.
THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF POSITANO
If your children are passionate about history, the Archaeological Museum of Positano will make them happy.
The exhibition is like a journey back in time. You can visit not only the crypts and rooms under the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, but also the frescoed rooms of a Roman villa.
Back in time, the ancient villa was located where the center of Positano is now. It was destroyed during the same eruption of Vesuvius that engulfed Pompeii.
The visit lasts about 30 minutes, a time sustainable even for the younger children. While the use of multimedia devices can capture the attention of the older ones.
