Many of the most romantic places on the Sorrento Peninsula have one thing in common: a wonderful view of the sea. After all, the sea and the numerous panoramic points are the strong points of this area.

Since Valentine’s Day is just a few weeks away, what about discovering some of these most romantic places in Sorrento?

WHICH ARE THE MOST ROMANTIC PLACES IN SORRENTO?

VILLA COMUNALE IN SORRENTO

The first most romantic place in Sorrento is also a of the symbols of the town. It is Villa Comunale.

Villa Comunale is a large public park overlooking the sea. From here you can admire one of the most spectacular view of the Bay of Sorrento and the Gulf of Naples, including Mount Vesuvius.

But it’s not just the panorama that makes this place so romantic. In fact, the gardens with the centuries-old trees and the flowering shrubs, the fountains and the historical monuments create the right atmosphere to share your feelings to you loved one.

THE CLOISTER OF SAN FRANCESCO

Right next to Villa Comunale is the Cloister of San Francesco.

This is part of a former 14th century monastery surrounded by greenery and now home to concerts and events.

The tranquility of the place, the ancient architecture, the play of light created by the rays of the sun passing through the columns, make the Cloister one of the most popular places for couples. And in fact, many of them decide to get married under the old tree in the center of the Cloister.

PIAZZETTA MARINELLA IN SANT’AGNELLO

Sant’Agnello is a town located on a natural terrace overlooking the sea at 47 meters ASL.

Despite being a small town – just under 9,000 inhabitants live there – it’s really lovely. The reason why we include it in the list of the most romantic places on the Sorrento Peninsula is the square of Piazzetta Marinella.

Like Villa Comunale, Piazzetta Marinella overlooks the sea. From here you can admire a wonderful view of the Gulf of Naples, which is definitely an ideal backdrop for a declaration of love.

However, this privileged position makes Piazzetta Marinella one of the most popular places for tourists. So, do not be surprised if, together with you, you will find other couples intent on declaring themselves eternal love.
If you want a more secluded spot, a staircase carved into the rock connects the square to a small beach. There, the view is equally beautiful but you probably will find less people. Moreover, there is also a good restaurant.

THE TERRACE OF THE HOTEL EXCELSIOR VITTORIA IN SORRENTO

Another romantic viewpoint on the Sorrento Peninsula is the terrace of the Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento.

All Italians know this terrace thanks to the song ‘Caruso‘ by the famous singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla.

In addition to the wonderful view of the Gulf of Sorrento, the Terrace is part of the one-star Michelin restaurant of the Hotel. In short, it is the perfect place for a romantic dinner.

MARINA GRANDE

If you think that the restaurant of the Excelsior Hotel is too fancy but you absolutely want to organize a dinner with your significant other, then head to Marina Grande.

Marina Grande is the old fishing village of Sorrento. From there, you can admire another spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples, the Mount Vesuvius and part of the Sorrento Peninsula. The panorama is so beautiful that the village has been a set for several movies.

Walking through the streets of the Marina Grande is already a romantic thing, but a dinner in one of the many restaurants overlooking the sea is even more so.
