5 BEST BEACHES OF THE SORRENTO COAST
IERANTO BEACH
The first of the best beaches on the Sorrento coast is the Bay of Ieranto.
This wonderful beach is located within the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella. To reach it, you have to follow the trekking path that starts a few meters from the square of Nerano, near Massa Lubrense. The bay is in fact closed to boat traffic.
The path is about one kilometer long and is surrounded by nature. Along the way, you will be able to admire an unparalleled view of the sea that includes Capri, Punta Campanella, the Li Galli Islands and the Amalfi coast.
The small beach of Ieranto is the perfect destination after the walk. Here, you will find pebbles and white gravel, rocks and clear water of a wonderful blue color.
LA PIGNATELLA
If your idea of a beach includes being around people and you hate the sand, the Pignatella beach is right for you!
La Pignatella is located in Capo di Sorrento, a few meters from Massa Lubrense. It is a small beach but its location and the fact that it is a free beach make it particularly popular, especially among the younger ones.
More than a beach, it is a cliff that slopes towards the sea, and you will not find sand. So, you will have to stretch out on the rock, but you can alway rent a sunbed.
In any case, the view is beautiful and the water is fantastic.
BAGNI DELLA REGINA GIOVANNA
I Bagni della Regina Giovanna (i.e.: the baths of Queen Joan) is a natural swimming pool hidden between high limestone cliffs. These cliffs close it almost completely: only an opening, under a rock arch, connects it to the open sea.
Again, this is not properly a beach. But it is an incredibly fascinating place, perfect if you want to be in contact with nature and swim in crystal clear water.
You may be wondering about the name. Well, it derives from a legend, according to which the Queen of Naples, Joanna of Anjou, used to meet her lovers in this place. Furthermore, not far away are the remains of an ancient Roman villa from the 1st century BC.
SPIAGGIA DI MARINA PICCOLA
Among the best beaches on the Sorrento Coast we want to include the Marina Piccola beach.
It is located near the center of Sorrento Here, you will find sand, bathing establishments, bars, showers, which is why it is particularly suitable for families with children.
But don’t worry, the sea is just as beautiful as in the wildest coves.
CALA DI MITIGLIANO
If you are looking for the beach with the best panorama, go to Cala di Mitigliano.
This is a rocky, hidden and wild beach, near Termini, in Massa Lubrense.
In addition to the beautiful sea and the surrounding nature, Cala di Mitigliano offers an incomparable view. As soon as you reach the beach you will see the island of Capri in front of you! So, remember to bring your camera with you!
These are just 5 of the best beaches on the Sorrento Coast. It’s up to you to discover the others!
