If you are an art lover and you are on the Amalfi Coast or the Sorrento Coast, you cannot miss the exhibition “Klimt Virtual Experience and Images.”
Who was Gustav Klimt?
Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter whose work epitomizes the Art Nouveau style. Born in 1862, Klimt’s fascination with art began when his father encouraged him to make drawings and decorations as a child. He attended the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts where he received formal training in fine art, before going on to become co-founder of the Vienna Secession movement.
Much of Klimt’s works are recognizable for their elaborate patterns, propensity for gold leaf, and its heavy use of abstracted sexuality. Gustav Klimt is credited as one of the leading lights of modernism in Vienna at turn of the 20th century whose incredibly influential works continue to be appreciated hundreds of years later around the world.
Klimt Virtual Experience and Images a Salerno
Klimt Experience is much more than an art exhibition; as the name implies, it is an experience. In fact, visitors can discover Gustav Klimt immersively through the use of Oculus VR 3D viewers. Images, sounds and music lead along a path lasting about 85 minutes. The goal is to tell an immersive story about the man, the artist, his works, and the cultural context in which he lived.
The exhibition also includes an introductory area, a Hall of Mirrors all decorated in Klimt’s typical style, a display of clothes reproduced by interpreting the painter’s drawings and textures. Finally, there is also a creativity area where visitors can try to paint works inspired by Klimt by following tutorials. The works can be taken home or left in the exhibition.
